From National Lampoon’s “Vacation”, the last motel they stayed at, with the infamous skinny-dipping scene. I randomly found myself staying at this hotel on New Year’s Eve a couple years ago, and boy, they are NOT shy about letting you know this scene was filmed here! The lobby is full of posters and photos from the movie. The piano bar is still there! (although it was closed during my stay). (Hotel Saddleback, 12500 Firestone Blvd, Norwalk, CA)

THE WONDER YEARS house. (ABC, 1988-1993) 516 University Ave, Burbank, CA My daughter was out selling Girl Scout Cookies near her school when I suddenly recognized the house at which she had just sold some Thin Mints. I knew It was in the area but had never gone looking for it. I always pictured the house on a flat street because they play ball In the street in the opening credits but its actually on a bit of a downslope. And yes, Winnie’s house Is really across the street, a few houses up. Photographed 2019.

In 2021 I did a “Great Escape” pilgrimage with my bike cycling from location to location on the German/ Austrian border. Incredibly the famous barn from Steve McQueen’s motorcycle chase is still there albeit in a bit of a state of disrepair. North of Pfronten, Bavaria.
