National Lampoon’s Vacation “We watch his program, we buy his toys, we go to his movies…HE OWES US!” The Griswold’s make it to Walley World only to find it’s closed for repairs for two weeks. The moose told them and Clark did not like it, so he punched him in the nose. While everyone knows that Six Flags Magic Mountain is the park they used for Walley World, the entrance was the ticket booths at Santa Anita Park, the Thoroughbred racetrack in Arcadia, CA. The parking lot scenes were done there too. This particular scene was filmed at the south entrance. Wider angle shot in the comments. Santa Anita Park 285 W Huntington Dr, Arcadia, CA

Malibu Creek State Park: M*A*S*H (1972) this screen grab is from the pilot episode opening sequence. I took the bottom 2 photos in 2018 during a trip to LA. There isn’t much there anymore except a couple rusted out hulks of vehicles and a sitting area to indicate the mess tent. The 30-45 min hike was definitely worth it. Finding this location was the highlight of our trip. 34°05’47″N 118°44’41″W

Stand By Me – the Water tower…..or, what’s left of it! I was obsessed with this movie growing up. And even though it was a quick scene, I always loved the shot of the boys walking the tracks by the water tower. Took this pic a couple years ago, so I’m not even sure if it’s still there. And the tracks are long gone. But I was so excited to find the spot! McCloud, CA – just off of hwy 89. Turn North on 15 (near Bartle creek) and go about a 1/4 mile. The road goes over what was obviously once railroad tracks. Then walk that for another 1/4 mile and it’s on the left :)
