Soldier Gives His K-9 Partner One Last Hug And Stays With Him Till The Last Moment
Sergeant Kyle Smith and Budza, a German shepherd, met each other while serving in the US Air Force. The dog became a bomb detector in 2006, and by sniffing out bombs, he helped save lives. After working together for 6 years, Smith and Budza created a strong friendship.
So, Smith decided to adopt Budza when it was time to retire. Budza remained loyal to Smith and his family. But unfortunately, nothing lasts forever, as Budza was diagnosed with incurable degenerative myelopathy in July 2016.*
To make matters worse, Budza became so weak that standing was extremely difficult for him. So, the best option, which was also the hardest, was to shoot down Budza! This was a very difficult thing for Smith to do, but it had to be done!
Budza was taken to the Ft Bliss Vet Center in El Paso, Texas, by Smith and nine co-workers to be put down. Budza was covered in the flag for a fitting send-off! Smith said he will never forget the loyal person in his life, and he will miss him forever!
