23years ago when I was going through a painful divorce and my fathers death I saw this movie(castaway 2001), alone. It was difficult to watch to say the least, But very impactful. I cry every time I see it. The last scene in the movie has haunted me. At the time I desperately wanted to have a sense of hope as I sat in the crossroads of my life every day. This week, (2024)I finally made it to this place in the middle of northern Texas. Seriously. Don’t ask me to explain why spending an hour to go out of my way to this location is far more important to me than visiting the Eiffel Tower or other popular destinations. Being here helped me see how much work went in to this specific location. Some of you will understand. It is a sacred place to me. It brought some closure as well as some raw emotions. Thankful for What a strange wonderful world this is and people here who understand what these places mean to us without needing to explain.

The “Rose Red’ Mansion ..which was fictionally located in the First Hill neighborhood of Seattle ….is actually the “Thornwood Castle” located in the Lakewood neighborhood of Tacoma, Washington… It was ABC’s last May Sweeps miniseries… The book by Stephen King.. The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer (My life at Rose Red) was actually loosely based upon the Winchester Mansion in San Jose, California ..which at the time refused filming in fear of being overwhelmed.
