Loyal Dog Brought Food For Her Chained And Starving Beloved To Keep Him Alive
Foster Demi rescued these two sweethearts from a landfill yesterday, according to Rescue Paws Curaçao. RPC is doing everything we can to help her. Demi the Rescuer tells their story below:
“Today started out like any other day. Wake up, get ready for work, etc… On my way to work, I passed a popular dump for dogs (living and dead). This is where my dogs belong, and I found two puppies (Milly and Mia) this week The past. I regularly feed the flocks of dogs that live there. I was looking for the brothers and the woman I see regularly.
I approached the large feeder where they had been sitting a lot lately, they weren’t there but I saw something different. I stopped and got out of my car. There were two skinny dogs and a pile of bones. These must have been recently disposed of, for I neither recognized nor passed them until yesterday evening.
Demi said she saw this dog bringing food to the other, perhaps trying to save her friend.
1 of the dogs cannot move, very weak. He also had a chain around his neck, which we were able to remove. We offered them food and water, which they happily accepted.
I had to go to work but I couldn’t think of anything else.. I show the pictures at work and express my concerns. I was terrified that someone else would find them and decide not to give them a chance. They are very similar to Finn and Kai. We also find out that Finn and Kai are very thin, with a necklace around Kai’s neck.
Glad after a few hours at work they said go get them
She drove as fast as she could, her wetsuit still on. Fortunately, they still were. I was able to go straight to the vet. I have asked the vet to be honest because there is not much I can do when they are so sick and they are simply too weak. She did some research and came to the conclusion that they were probably “just” infected with Carpathian disease and suffering from severe malnutrition.
She is confident they can be saved. She gave them some doses of medicine, and tomorrow I have to go back to take the doses again. They cannot take pills orally because their stomach cannot handle them. We can feed them small amounts of chicken and rice several times a day, and we will see more within a week.
They weigh 9 pounds as much as a 15 week old foster puppy.. The male is the weakest, unable to walk on his own. They consume foods and drinks.
They are safe in the Rescue Paws Curaçao home now away from the other 7 dogs (6 fosters). “They will do everything they can to save them, and hopefully they will survive.”
