For years I have wanted to go up to the Goonies house (1985). The previous owners had it blocked off down the hill from which it sits, but there is a new owner that is open to guests checking it out. This picture was taken in July of 2024. Located in Astoria, OR.

The ruins of Connor MacLeod’s castle (Christopher Lambert), where he lived with Heather (Beatie Edney) after being exiled from his native village. The castle was destroyed during the fight between The Kurgan (Clancy Brown) and Juan Sanchez Villa-Lobos Ramirez (Sean Connery) – all in Russell Mulcahy’s “Highlander” (1986). In search of these locations, I visited with my family the area around The Meeting of Three Waters in the Scottish Highlands, near Glencoe in 2018. Unfortunately, the castle was built as a set piece solely for the purposes of that movie.

Michael 1996 movie starring John Travolta, William Hurt, Robert Pastorelli, Andie McDowell, and Jean Stapleton These photos were shot inside the historic Gruene Hall, in Gruene (pronounced Green)/New Braunfels, TX, built in 1878 and where George Strait got his start in music. In the movie, “Michael”, the Hall was “Joe’s,” and it was where the dance scene to “Chain of Fools,” and the ensuing bar brawl took place. 1281 Gruene Rd, New Braunfels, TX My photos are from a 2017 visit.
