Classic Throwback

The ending of Blackadder was the saddest show ending I’ve ever seen. The show is hysterically funny for four seasons. Rowan Atkinson, Hugh Laurie, Stephen Fry, all in their prime. Then the final episode comes. And humor just leaves the scene. Suddenly, it’s dark and heart-wrenching. Baldrick, his dim-witted comrade, usually has a “cunning plan,” but this time, he has just “a plan.” The men are resigned to their fate. Captain Blackadder wishes his men good luck and blows his whistle. As they charge in slow motion, the scene fades to a field of poppies, symbolizing their deaths.
