Jessica Tandy and Hume Cronin with their son Christopher, daughter Tandy and Jessica’s daughter Susan from a previous marriage. Best known today for their film work, Tandy and Cronin were maybe best known in their day as theatre people, called “the first couple of American stage” by Playbill magazine in 2003. They were married for 52 years from 1942 until Tandy’s death in 1994.
