Your grandmother wore really ‘mini’ mini skirts, tight hot pants, long go-go boots, bell bottoms and no bra. She listened to Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Janis Joplin and the Rolling Stones. He drove a mini car, rode fast on motorcycles and scooters. She smoked thin cigarettes and fat joints She drank G&Ts and Whiskey Shots, walked in at 4:00am – and still went to work the next day….. So however you think you are, you’ll never be as cool as your grandma.

Freddie was gravely ill when the band recorded “The Show Must Go On” in 1990, and Brian May was concerned if he could physically handle singing it. Recalling Freddie’s performance, Brian says, “The melody called for some very demanding top notes, and I’d only been able to ‘demo’ them in falsetto. I said to Freddie: ‘I don’t want you to strain yourself – this stuff isn’t going to be easy in full voice, even for you!’ Freddie told me, ‘Don’t worry – I’ll fucking nail it, darling!’ I said, ‘Fred, I don’t know if this is going to be possible to sing.’ And he went, ‘I’ll fucking do it, darling,’ vodka down, and went in and killed it, completely lacerated that vocal.” Freddie propped himself up against the mixing desk and delivered one of the most extraordinary performances of his life. In the final mix of “The Show Must Go On,” when you get to “On with the show,” you’re listening to a man who conquered everything to deliver his finest work. Released on October 14, 1991, “The Show Must Go On” became a testament to Freddie’s indomitable spirit, although he was never able to perform it live. What a great person, what passion, what a beautiful soul inside and out, what a strong spirit, what courage! There is no other like him and there never will be! Freddie, you are still an inspiration, love, and appreciation. We will always love and adore you, gorgeous man!
