National Lampoon’s Vacation After breaking in to Wally World and forcing the security guard (John Candy) to go on rides all over the park, Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) and his family are held at gunpoint by the Swat team just outside the Whipper Snapper ride entrance. The entry way was the old entrance to Revolution, a rollercoaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, CA. The Revolution is the world’s first modern roller coaster to feature a vertical loop, opening in 1976 and still operational today. It’s now known as “The New Revolution – Classic” Six Flags Magic Mountain 26101 Magic Mountain Pkwy, Valencia, CA

The clearing in the woods from the opening credits of “The Andy Griffith Show” featuring Andy and Opie headed to the fishin’ hole, known on the show as “Myers Lake” near Mayberry – actually located alongside the Franklin Canyon Reservoir in Los Angeles. This reservoir just above Beverly Hills was also the home of “The Creature From The Black Lagoon” in 1954 and has appeared in dozens of other movies and TV shows, including “Star Trek.” The area was also featured on album covers for Simon & Garfunkel (“Sounds Of Silence”) and the Rolling Stones (“Big Hits – High Tide and Green Grass”).
