In the Heat of the Night (1967) West 2nd street & Grand Ave Sparta, IL. Business took me through Sparta (southern Illinois) today. Looks the same 56 years later.

The opening scenes of American Werewolf in London (which are supposed to be the Yorkshire Moors) were actually shot at Hay Bluff near Hay-on Wye in South Wales. Me and my daughter visited a few years ago to track down the exact location.

In 2021 I did a “Great Escape” pilgrimage with my bike cycling from location to location on the German/ Austrian border. Incredibly the famous barn from Steve McQueen’s motorcycle chase is still there albeit in a bit of a state of disrepair. North of Pfronten, Bavaria.
